Smyrna Church of Christ |
Smyrna, Tennessee |
Description |
This project designed in 1988 included: a contemporary
750 seat auditorium, new entry portico, new parking area, nursery, connecting corridors to
existing buildings, 3 level stop elevator, and restrooms. The auditorium is constructed of
heavy timber glue laminated wood arches and a tongue and groove wood ceiling. The exterior
walls are constructed of brick and metal studs with extra height arched windows. The roof
is pitched and covered with asphalt shingles. The floor is sloped from the back of the
auditorium to the stage area. The baptismal contains a stained glass window and separate
dressing rooms for men and women. The entry portico is traditional in design with wood
Doric columns to visually tie the new construction to the existing buildings as viewed
from the exterior. |
