Fire Station 5 was designed by
Whitehead+Oakley+Dunlap+Bumpas, LLC, for the Town of Smyrna, Tennessee. Goals for the project included designing an
approximately 8,000 square foot facility for the Town of Smyrna Fire Department which
would include an apparatus room (parking area for the fire trucks), kitchen, day room,
offices, and eight sleeping quarters. WODB also designed the entire site plan, which
included an entrance to the apparatus room from a new access road on the north side of the
property. Included in the design were the following:
natural gas powered electric generator for all critical components, a standing seam metal
roof, two on-site fire hydrants, a brick exterior, and a pedestrian entranceway that
includes a curved metal panel roof. Other features in the interior of the building include
restrooms with lockers and showers (male and female), a laundry room, and a conference
room.
